Common Entrance (CE) can be taken by pupils in Year 6 (CE 11+) or Year 7 or 8 (CE 13+) as part of their entrance applications to independent senior schools.

There are two exam sessions for CE at 11+ per year. Pupils may sit the exam either in November (the Autumn session) or January (the Spring session). Most pupils sit the exam in January after using the Autumn term to revise and practice.

There are three exam sessions for CE at 13+, which can be sat in November, January and May/June (the Summer session). Find more information about CE at 11+ and 13+ on our website.

Common Academic Scholarship Examinations (CASE ) are scholarship exams based on the CE at 13+ specifications and taken at 13+. There are two CASE sessions throughout the academic year in February (the Spring session) or May (the Summer session). For more information on CASE exams, visit the support page on our website.
